We are now in the fifth lunar month of the pregnancy. Elisa is no longer throwing up. Now she complains that she can't get comfortable in bed, and she's starting to get some discomfort in her lower back.
Like I mentioned yesterday, she's starting to balloon. Really, all within the last 10 days or so. Amazing! And to think, we're already about two weeks from the baby's birthday! She's gained something like 5 pounds the last two weeks.
The baby is now 5 1/2 inches long and growing (3-5 more inches over the coming month). It's ears stand out from its head. If we're having a boy, he now has a prostate (woohoo!). Of course, I am 31 years old and I still don't know what a prostate is, except that it's 1) not pleasant, and 2) I'm almost old enough to start worrying about it.
Also, if it's a boy, we're still naming him "Aristotle", to the chagrin of everyone in my world. Damn them all to hell! That name rocks!
If the baby is a girl, she is already developing eggs inside her ovaries. Damn kids mature early these days! Just wait until she brings home some dashing 22-week-old fetus. I won't approve! She's not ready! Definitely needs another trimester before I'll let her date.
The baby is developing lanugo hair, otherwise known amongst less cultured people as "temporary downy hair" (but you already knew all about lanugo hair, didn't you?). No one knows why it grows, but it will be gone by birth. I wonder if it has something to do with discarded evolutionary traits. We are, after all, hairless monkeys.
